On February 5, 2026, Montgomery County Public School's Superintendent presented final recommendations to the Board of Education regarding the Crown Farm high school site, the expansion of Damascus High School, and secondary boundary changes.
For Darnestown ES, the recommendation proposes:
Kingsview Middle School
Poolesville High School
as the middle and high school articulation pathway
beginning in the 2027–2028 school year,
pending MCPS Board of Education approval.
*See implementation timeline below.
Both schools are projected to operate within
MCPS’s target capacity range (80–100%).
This recommendation is not final.
The Board of Education is scheduled to vote on March 26, 2026.

PTA APPROVED EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF SURVEY SUBMITTED TO MCPS BOARD OF EDUCATION: DEC 18

-
Options E & F: Crown would operate as a temporary holding school, not a comprehensive high school. Students living in the Crown attendance area would instead attend Gaithersburg High School.
-
Option G: A hybrid option in which Crown would serve as both a holding school and a neighborhood school, offering about 500 seats to students living nearby.
-
Option H: Crown would be used as a new site for Wootton High School. Details on how this would work have not yet been fully defined, and Wootton is not currently included in MCPS’s planned construction timeline.
